Brad Ford unveiled his model residence that celebrates architecture, art and handcrafted design in the Jean Nouvel designed tower above the MoMA in 53 West 53. The unit is developed by Singapore-based Pontiac Land and international real estate firm Hines.
The new Brad Ford Interior Design unit 36A is 3,020 sq.ft. and features 2-bedrooms, 2.5-bathrooms and is located on the 36th floor of the residential tower. The residence also features handcrafted pieces from Ford’s showroom FAIR, that he opened in 2015 at the New York Design Center. Other artwork includes Ford’s collaboration with MDM to curate sophisticated artworks throughout the residence to pay homage to existing art in the MoMA’s permanent collection.
Samantha Sax, Chief Marketing Officer of Pontiac Land US said, “Brad Ford is a renowned designer whose approach to interiors is truly unique. We wanted to make sure everything in Residence 36A felt considered, understated and timeless. It is an ideal showcase of the lifestyle that comes with living in the building.” David Penick, Managing Director, Hines continued “As 53 West 53 incorporates three floors of MoMA galleries, it seems fitting that Brad Ford has designed a home that is the perfect opportunity to also showcase art. The residence offers a calm tranquility that buyers will appreciate as they take in the spectacular views of the New York City skyline.”
Brad Ford is popular for creating the event Field+Supply in the Hudson Valley, a modern interpretation of a traditional arts and crafts fair that highlights various studios and workshops. Ford was groomed under designers Thad Hayes and Jed Johnson. Ford’s residence in 53 West 53 joins a collection of other model homes designed by the world’s most acclaimed names. These names include André Fu, who designed the St. Regis Hotel in Hong Kong, Waldorf Astoria Bangkok and Berkeley Hotel in London, along with Roman and Williams, who designed the interiors for Le Coucou, the Standard Highline and Royalton Hotel.
“I wanted to bring a different perspective to this particular residence. It was important to me that it has a sense of calmness and serenity with a real balance between the architecture, art, and furnishings so it never feels like there's a competition between these disciplines. I’m passionate about elevated craftsmanship so there are a lot of unique, handcrafted pieces that bring a certain level of soul into the home,” said Brad Ford.
Brad Ford’s model residence inside 53 West 53 is priced at $9.74 million. 53 West 53 is a unique residential tower located above the MoMA and consists of three gallery levels integrated into the base of the building with connections to the museum’s exhibition spaces.
