Construction at 989 Sixth Avenue, 68-story mixed-use skyscraper in Manhattan’s Garment District, has officially reached the halfway point. Set to stand at an impressive 785’ tall, 989 Sixth Avenue is designed by C3D Architecture and developed by the Sioni Group.
The skyscraper is set to encompass a total of 384,118 square feet, featuring 300 condominium units with an average size of 991 square feet. In addition to residential space, the building will include 86,817 square feet dedicated to commercial use, as well as two cellar levels. Its prime location at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and West 37th Street positions it as a significant addition to the Midtown skyline.
Plans for 989 Sixth Avenue have been in the works since 2007 when developers Eli and Isaac Chetrit, along with the Sioni Group, acquired the site for $49 million. The project gained momentum in 2016 when the developers secured 235,000 square feet of air rights from the adjacent Haier Building.
