100 Barclay Street is preserving the Christmas spirit for children in the building. The storied Tribeca Art-Deco condo is designed by Ralph Walker and considered to be the first skyscraper in NYC. The building features spectacular bronze mailboxes in the lobby where children this year will be able to write letters to Santa and receive a response. The Holiday season is very different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of kids visiting Santa, exchanging letters is a COVID-safe Christmas activity for them to enjoy.
Last year a letter was found in the lobby floor mailbox of 100 Barclay Street addressed to “Santa.” Unfortunately the building could not locate who wrote the letter. This influenced 100 Barclay Street to set up Santa’s Mailbox in the elevator lobby to spread Christmas cheer. A volunteer in the building will be responding to the children’s letters acting as the Barclay Santa, and the return letters will even postmarked from the North Pole. This activity will allow the Barclay kids to have fun and celebrate the Holiday Season in a COVID safe manner.
