The Robert R. Douglass pedestrian bridge in Lower Manhattan designed by WXY Architecture and Thornton Tomassetti is set to open this fall, 2019. The 230’ bridge is named after Robert R. Douglass, a founder of Alliance for Downtown New York and advocate for rebuilding Lower Manhattan after 9/11. The bridge will span between West Thames Street, over West Street, to Joseph P. Ward Street, effectively linking Battery Park City to the Financial District. Construction teams broke ground on the bridge in 2016 after pushing through funding issues in 2010.
