WeWork continues to rapidly expand in the Chelsea neighborhood. The $20 billion co-working giant signed a 100,000 SF lease at 214 West 29th Street with landlord Walter & Samuels. It will occupy floors two through eight at the 17-story office building between Seventh and Eighth Avenue.
In February, WeWork signed a lease for a 167,000 SF space in 18 West 18th Street. President and Chief Financial Officer, Artie Minson, recently announced the company’s intention to double its locations worldwide in 2018 from 200 to 400. Several other tech behemoths, mostly notably Google, have offices in Chelsea.
The property is close to WeWork’s current headquarters at 115 West 18th Street. According to The Real Deal, the company pushed out about 500 of its tenants from the building last year to consolidate corporate offices under one roof, which were previously staggered across the city. Despite the recent relocation, it plans to move headquarters again to the Lord & Taylor flagship store at 424 Fifth Avenue.
Other tenants in the building include Restoration Hardware, textile retailer Katie Leede & Company, communication consultants Nolan Lehr Group, event production company Blueprint NYC, Pollacks Furriers Supply Corporation, and clothing retailer Andy Fur, Inc.
