Gamma Real Estate' 800' 3 Sutton Place residential tower designed by architect Foster + Partners has now been approved by the Board of Standards and Appeals and construction can restart after the developers were forced to seek rezoning to complete the project. At the time of construction pause, 3 Sutton Place's foundation has just been completed. Gamma Real Estate had requested an extension from the Board of Standards and Appeals to complete the foundation work for the tower which was approved as city ordinances state that a project that is currently under construction is exempt from newly established rezoning regulations if the foundation work had been substantially completed when the changes go into effect.
Completion was initially targeted for 2019 but will extend into 2020 due to the delays. Gamma Real Estate purchased the site for $98 million from Bauhouse Group in December 2016, who had first revealed plans and initial renderings in December 2015 but expected to build an 80-story tower in excess of 900'.
