Silverstein Properties has officially celebrated the grand opening of the Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners-designed 3 World Trade Center, the fourth tower of five planned to open in the World Trade Center at 175 Greenwich Street. Upon opening 3 World Trade Center was roughly 38% leased with tenants including McKinsey, IEX, and GroupM. The tower is the fifth tallest in NYC, rising 1,079 SF and offers 2.5 million SF of total development. 3 World Trade Center also features the first outdoor terrace in World Trade Center and the highest outdoor private terrace in Lower Manhattan. The column free building features floor-to-ceiling glass and is the only building in the world with a three-sided cable net wall and annealed glass. 3 World Trade Center also features ground floor retail and an underground pedestrian retail concourse with office space above.
“Starting with 7 WTC and the rest of the towers that followed, we sought to create modern, environmentally-conscious and technologically-advanced offices,” said Larry Silverstein, Chairman of Silverstein Properties. “Places that foster creativity where young people would want to work and collaborate. That meant great architecture and sustainable design, but also improved transportation, a more vibrant streetscape, new shops and restaurants, great public spaces, and exciting and fun public space art."
