"Glassworks seeks to bring a new perspective on urbanism and design to the Bushwick market," said Ari S. Heckman, CEO and Co-Founder of ASH NYC. "In a neighborhood known for its creatively re-imaged industrial spaces and diverse housing stock, we're excited to offer a rental building that fuses modern and historic design with the services and amenities and attention to detail associated with today's best, new developments."
"Glassworks is changing the game for rental living in the area," said Martin Lomazow. "Known for some of the best restaurants, entertainment and cultural venues in Brooklyn that are accessible by multiple subway lines and public transportation options, Bushwick is a great neighborhood and Glassworks is further elevating its status as a premier place to live."
Glassworks Bushwick entails converting the 77,000 SF Dannenhoffer Opalescent Glassworks building which was originally built in 1888 into a mixed-use development. Lomazow's Security Bag Company has owned and operated the site for nearly 50 years before it was acquired by ASH NYC. Together, they have revitalized the original Glassworks and chose to highlight its identity while adapting its functionality to serve current and future New Yorkers.
Located at 336 Himrod Street, ASH NYC integrated the historic building and facade into the three-building development with new construction. Glassworks Bushwick features 63 rental units which range from studios to 3 bedroom flooplans, as well as penthouses. Residences feature white oak flooring, stainless steel appliances, light fixtures designed by ASH NYC, and balconies or Juliet balconies depending on the unit. Amenities include community work spaces, a fitness room, indoor bike parking, a public roof deck and yard designed by Brooklyn Grange to allow residents to meet and interact, and a barbeque area. Residents will also have access to garage parking, private balconies for the apartments, and on-site laundry.
